New E-Box in the Presidential Palace
Within its environmental measures, the Presidential Palace minimises its waste production. It thus follows one of the President's priorities – environmental protection.
Water in glass bottles and jugs, double-sided printing of documents, minimisation of plastics and the use of classic towels are only a small part of how the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic tries to set an example to other state institutions. The inspiration for the whole “Waste-Free Presidential Office" project was the Dutch Embassy located in Bratislava. According to Petra Cséfalvayová from the Institute of Circular Economy, the aim of the project is to reduce the production of municipal waste so that it does not end up in landfills and to minimise, as much as possible, the consumption of other types of waste such as plastic, paper and glass, thus minimising their production as far as possible. The President of the Slovak Republic, Ms. Zuzana Čaputová, is a supporter of the zero waste idea, i.e. a lifestyle without waste or with the minimum amount of such, which will then be returned to circulation via recycling or composting.
The collection of electrical waste in the environmental project “Waste-Free Presidential Office" is covered by the company ASEKOL SK with its E-Box collection container. "We are honoured that we have been given the opportunity to participate in this project and to also point out that it is not enough to sort and recycle only common commodities such as plastics or paper, but electrical waste as well," says Ronald Blaho, the Executive Director of ASEKOL SK, adding that E -box is not the only way to get rid of small electrical waste. The public can throw small electrical waste into red and white containers located in selected cities and towns. The E-Box interior collection container is intended primarily for small electrical waste from offices and households, such as non-functional calculators, telephones, small computer equipment, players, hair dryers, kettles, etc. Batteries and accumulators should be thrown into a separate box located above the opening for disposal of electrical waste. Therefore, the E-Box is a suitable solution not only for the Presidential Palace.
